Aspen Black

Aspen Black is an acoustic Country, Western Americana, and folk singer/songwriter, playing original tunes and some classic covers on guitar, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, and bass, with the ability to create everything from an intimate guitar/vocal performance to a fuller sound with rhythm backing and lead fills/solos. Her original songs tell stories and act as anthems for the rural way of life. As a champion barrel racer and trainer, she says, "horses don't speak in words, so you learn to observe the tiniest nuances to know what they need, how they're feeling".  That same skill can be applied to humans, which allows me to perceive much more about people, like what brings them true peace and joy, what pain they've buried, what they truly yearn for inside.  From this emerges songs with themes of freedom, courage, independence, nostalgia, joy, vulnerability, nature, coming of age, family, travel, and love.  Aspen plays a variety of venues, adapting her setlist and themes to fit the audience.
