Aspen Black's Senior Living Sing-Along:

Seniors love Aspen Black!

Senior Living Concert:

Are you looking for a standard concert format vs the multimedia sing-along? Aspen plays and sings a one-hour concert of folk, country, rock-n-roll, and bluegrass gospel favorites from the 40's-70's.  She talks with the residents throughout the show about the history of the songs, her instruments, residents' memories, and any other interesting tidbits that come up, adding a dimension of connection and information.  To keep your cost down and elevate the entertainment value, Aspen uses a device that makes her solo performance sound like a trio and enables her to play multiple instruments live during the show.  After the concert, Aspen stays for a short meet & greet, shaking hands and listening to brief stories that residents want to share.

  • Engaging shows featuring various song genres = something for everyone
  • No "karaoke" or canned backing tracks - Aspen creates all of her own audio and visual components, so you are getting her own talent
  • Aspen treats residents of all care levels as intelligent, vibrant adults
  • Cost-effective: Aspen's multiple instruments and "trio" sound give you a small band experience for the price of a solo performer
  • Return performances can include residents' song requests, games, trivia, and similar components to personalize the show and further connect with residents

This one-hour multimedia sing-along concert is very popular with seniors in independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Aspen plays several instruments and sings live to recordings of her own playing on rhythm instruments while custom-made lyric videos run beside or behind her, encouraging the residents to sing along to favorite hit songs from the 1940's - 1970's, with a couple of even older hymns and traditional songs too!  Aspen interacts with the residents throughout, asking questions and   giving tidbits of information about the songs, songwriters, and/or original performers. Residents are encouraged to clap, sing, and dance (either standing if able, or moving their feet or hands while seated).

The Sing- Along show can be customized, such as including songs that fit a particular season or theme, removing gospel songs to make it fully secular, or adding some of Aspen's original songs in to make it more culturally informative.  Please specify any customization you would like when booking.

Bring the same concert that Aspen performs in libraries across the country to your residents, taking them on a musical journey through the geography and culture of our US! From favorite destinations to hidden gems, people will connect with, and learn about, interesting regional culture, beautiful landscapes, old buildings, highways and byways, art and artisans, food culture, and little-known facts about people and places all over the America!  Aspen Black's original story-songs are complimented by photos and videos, many of which she has taken herself over 30 years of traveling and touring as a musician.  Several of the songs encourage audience participation and there is even a small souvenir included!

Duration: 1 hour.  Recommended for Independent Living or mentally-vibrant Assisted Living.

Notes:

Single, monthly, or regular rotational bookings available on most months if your location is within 200 miles of Roanoke, VA.

Single bookings are available in many US states when Aspen's tour route passes through your area (check her performance schedule page or inquire about dates). Aspen typically tours in the midwest, southeast, southwest, and northwest. Not as often in the northeast.

Aspen performs for an hourly rate that is congruent with the standard solo musician's rate for senior entertainment in your locality.  This rate is heavily discounted from her rates for non-senior-living venues across the country.

Aspen is an award-winning singer/songwriter who tours nationally.  In addition to concert venues, she performs at many libraries, schools, museums, cultural centers, and for special events. She developed the above senior living shows when COVID shut down her national touring in 2020-2021.  Since then, she has become a well-loved performer at many senior living facilities.  Aspen schedules senior shows in her home region around her national touring schedule as well as shows in other states while on tour throughout the year.

Aspen is available for last minute "fill-in" shows within 100 miles of Roanoke, VA, provided she is in town and not booked elsewhere that day.

Aspen typically performs solo but sometimes can perform at your facility as part of the the Grombacher/Black duo or with her daughter as "Aspen & Alice".  Ask about available dates and concert themes.
